HMA-FO Online Data Access Contract Awarded & Kick-Off Achieved
ESA/ESRIN, Frascati, 24.06.2009
The European Space Agency (ESA) has tasked EOX in the course of the Heterogeneous Mission Accessibility (HMA) initiative to implement the Online Data Access services (HMA-FO ODA). HMA is ESA's interoperability framework for coordinated data discovery and access. It will be exploited within GMES to ensure interoperability to some 40 different Earth Observation satellite missions. HMA interoperability interfaces are standardised within the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).
EOX is leading a consortium including GIM from Belgium, Jacobs University Bremen from Germany, and Spot Image from France. Under this ESA contract a Earth Observation contribuion to the OGC Web Coverage Service willl be delivered, possibly leading to a community specific profile (EO-WCS). For fostering the industrial take-up and implementation the standardization process in the relevant OGC interface standards working group will be complemented by the delivery of an Open Source Software implementation of the EO-WCS.
